Well, I guess he WON'T be going to Jared this engagement season. At least not in some cities.

Kay, Jared, and Zales Jewelers, parent company Signet Jewelers Ltd would be permanently closing up to 380 stores this year between North America and the U.K.

Since mid-March, all of Signet Jewelers locations have been closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Recently some locations have tried to open up for curbside pickup and others have in-store shopping available, but the experience isn't the same in the COVID-19 world we live in now. Everyone has to wear masks, gloves, and employees disinfect pieces of jewelry before and after and the customer handles it.

A lot of the locations for Kay, Jared and Zales are in malls and those locations have been really hit hard. Most malls can't even open yet, so there's no way to visit one of these jewelers. Luckily their online business hasn't been as hard hit as their brick and mortar stores have.

So what does this all mean for stores in the Capital Region? Well, the official list of stores that are closing hasn't been announced yet, but I would imagine that the future of the Zales locations at Colonie Center, and Route 50 in Saratoga Springs as well as the Kay Jewelers locations in Crossgates Mall, Colonie Center and Amsterdam Crossing could all be on the chopping block. Jared doesn't have any locations in the Capital Region, but they do have locations in Amherst, Buffalo, Carle Place, Lake Grove, Rochester, and Syracuse.
