Live Music Returns To New York with Lynyrd Skynyrd and Allman Betts Band
There was nothing like an Allman Brothers Band concert. It was an event each year when the bothers came to town. Fans packing amphitheaters and arenas to hear Dickey Betts, Gregg Allman, Duane Allman, Berry Oakley, Jaimoe, Butch trucks and the band create those moments of musical magic. The Allman Brothers may be gone but their legacy lives on with the Allman Betts Band.
Devon Allman (Gregg's son), Duane Betts (Dickey's son) and Berry Oakley Jr. front the Allman Betts Band but make no mistake about it, this is no tribute act, these guys are more than just their names. This afternoon I spoke with Duane Betts about how the band came to be and what it was like to record at Muscle Shoals recording studios.
Duane and I also talked about the Allman Betts Band being one of the first to perform 'Drive-In Theater' and socially distant concerts and what it was like for him to tour with Kid Rock. Listen to my full conversation with Duane Betts below.
See and hear the Allman Betts Band Saturday (8/28) at SPAC with Lynyrd kynyrd and Blackberry Smoke. Purchase their latest album 'Bless Your Heart' HERE.
