Local rockers Plush are making it big.

The band Plush made up of locals, Moriah Formica who's from Latham and you might remember from NBC's "The Voice" has formed a great band with her friend and drummer Brooke Colucci (also from Latham), lead guitarist Bella Perron, and bassist Ashley Suppa.

The ladies put out their first single "Hate" and it's been a smash hit and instantly put Plush on the rock map.

Since releasing their hit single Plush has been in the studio in Nashville recording a new album and putting together a pretty impressive list of tour dates opening for some real heavy hitters in rock music.

Plush is opening for Evanescence and Halestorm for tour dates November 5th through the 20th. Those dates will take them through the west coast as well as Texas and Arizona. They will also be opening for Doughtery at the Fraze Pavilion in Kettering, Ohio. That's a very cool outdoor venue that I've seen several shows.

They are also scheduled to play at the Illinois State Fair and it was just announced Plush will be opening for rock royalty Mammoth WVH at the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio.

Expect to see more tour dates, hopefully, more close to Upstate New York, in the near future.

I had the opportunity to talk to Moriah Formica right before the new single, "Hate" was released. We talked about how the band came together, how the Heart "Barracuda" cover that she and Brook C did really became the piece that got her management and a recording deal. We also talked about her getting to open for and meet Joan Jett. Check out my interview below.

In case you missed it here's the video of Moriah and Brook C doing Heart's Barracuda.
