This Small New York Town Honors Memorial Day With Stunning ‘Field of Flags’
Memorial Day Weekend 2025. I'm certain most of us New Yorkers had hoped for less rain, warmer days and a lot of outdoor activity. Truth be told, as much as we long for more summer like weather, Memorial Day is much more than an 80 degree day. Memorial Day is about remembering and honoring our fallen heroes of the United States Military.
Many towns throughout New York State will orchestrate Memorial Day Parades and decorate Main Street with American flags. For the 9th year in-a-row, one town is displaying a 'field of flags' to remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice. Take a look at the pictures below.

My girlfriend and I weren't going to let the inclement weather keep us in the house this weekend, so we got our Chesapeake Bay Retriever in the car and hit the road. As we weaved along State Route 32 in Greene County we saw a sight so impressive we had to pull over.
This field of flags, 300 in total, has been created by the Greenville, New York American Legion Post 291. You can see the flags in person at Scott M. Ellis Elementary School from now until July 12th. Each flag is available to dedicate in honor of a United States Military Veteran. Order yours at 518-239-4295.
If you are in the Greenville area do yourself a favor and visit this field of flags. In the meantime, take a look at these pictures showing this dramatic display of patriotism. Some of the photos display the names of our fallen heroes.
