There hasn't been new stuff from Evanescence since 2006.  Now the band is working at full speed to get a new album out for 2011.

Back in 2007 Evanescence was kind of imploding.  Two of it's members were leaving and they still had a tour to finish up.  New material took a back seat to the band drama and things were on hold for a while.

Fast forward 2 years to 2009 and Wind Up Records had them back in the studio working on new stuff.  Except for the band was not focused, and Wind Up was losing confidence.  So they all decided to leave and get their heads on straight before diving back into writing new stuff.  Now here we are in the summer of 2011 and some new Evanescence is on the way for later in the year.

Lead singer Amy Lee sat down for an interview with MTV news and told them that new new album is going to be heavier than the bands previous stuff.

It's probably the heaviest record we've ever done, but we're having a great time making it. I don't want to say the word 'fun,' but it is ... it's totally fun

-Amy Lee

Lee also said that the first single off of the new record will sound a little different than what their previous songs had sounded like.   So I guess sit back and get ready to hear the new and improved Evanescence?  I guess that's what is going on.

I remember the first time I heard the band.  I had no idea who they were but I knew that I loved Amy's voice.  She was a total rock chick.  Powerful voice and the whole goth look, it was pretty awesome.  Plus that first single "Bring Me To Life" was a monster.  I still really enjoy hearing that song.
