New Life For The Cohoes Community Center

The Cohoes Community Center closed in October 2018 and the community has been missing it since. Well, that's about to change.

According to the article in www.spectrumlocalnews.com, new owner Craig Roopchand  has big plans for the closed center. He founded Gateway Sports & Pool in 2003 and has opened several aquatics centers in New York City and Long Island. This will be his first in the Capital Region.

The plans include renovating and revamping the entire complex to have aquatics, swim lessons and other water activities. In addition, the complex will include fitness and sports programs and recreational and league competitions. That includes basketball, volleyball, tai chi, ping-pong, and swim teams.

The new Cohoes Community Center will be renamed The Gateway Sports Complex and should be up and running sometime in the Spring.
