If you're planning on renting a car in New York City this holiday season get ready to empty your wallet.

With the busy holiday travel season upon us many are getting their plans set. Booking airfare, hotel, and rental cars is key to making sure you get where you need to be. Travelers that will be coming to our going through New York will find that the rental car prices are going to be much higher than other cities in the country.

Those of you who have to travel to New York City and need to rent a car need to be ready to pay up.

Rental Car Costs

According to Finance Buzz, New York City is the highest cost per day on renting a car. NYC comes in at $142 per day with Newark, NJ (which might as well be NYC, too) is about ten dollars less at $132.

On average they found that the cost to rent a car is about $87 per day, but as you can tell the top 10 cities is coming in at a much higher cost.

If you're looking to spend less on renting a car this holiday season Florida appears to be the place to be. Five of the top 10 least expensive cities are in Florida and that includes Miami, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Meyers, and Orlando.

The cost of renting a car on average is up compared to 2023, but way down compared to 2021 where the average cost was $113. That average still well below the $142 per day you'll have to spend to rent a car in the Big Apple.
