New York Influencer Says TikTok Ban Will Be ‘Catastrophic’ For Many
With the January TikTok ban looming there are many who use the app to make a living that will suffer a major loss financially.
The topic of TikTok continues to be a big one as we work toward the date of January 19, 2025. That's the date that the app will be banned in the United States if they don't find a non-Chinese owned company to buy them. There's a lot more at stake here than just losing an app that people use to do dances and trends. There are many small businesses that make a whole living off of TikTok.
I was able to chat with New York, and Capital Region based influencer Sammitery to talk about how this TikTok ban could impact people like her. Not just here in New York, but influencers and content creators around the country.
Sammitery is all about fashion, goth lifestyle, spreading kindness, and living your best weird life. She's got 200,000 followers on Instagram but her number on TikTok is double that at over 400,000. I asked her how that TikTok ban would impact her.

She said if the ban were to go through that it would be "catastrophic" for many small businesses around the US. She said there are so many that are celebrating this ban for the wrong reasons, and saying "ha ha influencers."
They're not looking at the big picture...there are people who makes their whole entire lives and feed their families.
Listen to my entire interview with Sammitery:
Right now there is time for TikTok. There is a a hearing scheduled with the Supreme Court on January 9th form the to make a case against this potential ban. Also President-elect Donald Trump says he is in favor of not banning the app and is asking the Supreme Court to look into this as well. So there is still some hope for this app and their users.
