According to a study/ article on Big Seven Travel New York is listed dead last in the list of the 50 friendliest states. I know the image it brings to mind with you think New Yorker....gruff, rude, impatient, loud...etc.

Locals might seem a bit gruff at first, but it’s a melting pot of many cultures and the neighbourhoods in each borough have a community feel if you manage to stick it out for long enough. Just don’t dawdle on the sidewalk or hold up traffic taking Instagram shots…

Think about it though, does that really represent the people in the Upstate? I don't think so. This is the typical New York image that is based on what people in New York City are like. It's a stereotype.

My family and I have lived in the Capital District for about two months now and I can honestly say everyone here has been friendly and helpful.

I think the list of the 50 Friendliest States is a little flawed. I lived in South Carolina for two years and it was NOT a friendly place, especially to Yankees! South Carolina is the friendliest state on the list. Number one....Minnesota. Yea, that's probably about right. I've seen Vikings fans buy beer for a Packer Fan at a game. I bet you don't see that when the Jets play the Giants!
