No NFL Comeback For Tiki Barber
The former NY Giants running back was hoping to have a big comeback this year in the NFL, but it looks like nobody wanted him. Yahoo Sports is reporting that he isn't taking it very well either.
The last time Tiki Barber suited up for a football game was in 2006 with the New York Giants. It was after that season that he decided that he wanted to retire at the ripe old age of 31, or as some would call it, the peak of his career. At that point in time he said it was to spend more time with his kids before the physical toll of the game made it so that he couldn't. Oh, he also wanted to develop his broadcast career.
Fast forward to today and Tiki and his wife are divorced, he's dating a 20 something who was an intern at NBC and NBC quietly let him go after a few years of being a contributor on the Today Show. Earlier this year Tiki said he wanted to get back into the game, because he "needed it". We are a week away from the start of the NFL season and Tiki Barber's name is not on any roster in the NFL. Yahoo sports reports that Sports Illustrated's Peter King said Tiki isn't taking it very well either.
We are flabbergasted that Tiki has not had an opportunity with any team, especially when rosters were at 90 players this year. I certainly thought some team would be intrigued to see what he had left in the tank

I guess what Tiki isn't getting is that a 36 year old running back who hasn't seen the playing field in quite some time just isn't very appealing to most people. I'm willing to bet not a day goes by that Tiki isn't kicking himself for not sticking around just 1 more year to get a Super Bowl ring with the team he played for his entire career. Plus it was a well known fact that he was not a good team player, and would not bring a positive atmosphere to the locker room. Sorry Tiki, you shouldn't have blown it when you had a shot.
