‘Only God Forgives’ Trailer: Ryan Gosling Wants Revenge
'Only God Forgives' came out of Cannes with mostly mixed to negative reviews, but little will keep us from wanting to see Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn reteam after their work together on 'Drive.' The film opens in July, and here's the film's American trailer.
This trailer features much of the same imagery and dialogue that's graced previous trailers, but the music and mood make it hypnotic.A film of few words, this probably won't inspire as many Halloween costumes as 'Drive' did, but It's also coming at a time when Gosling fever has died a bit. Though it's only been at least two months since 'The Place Beyond the Pines' came out, perhaps the failure of 'Gangster Squad' and the shelf life of memes have made Gosling a little passé.
Here's the film's synopsis. 'Only God Forgives' hits theaters July 19.
Julian (Gosling) lives in exile in Bangkok where he runs a Thai boxing club as a front for the family’s drugs smuggling operation. When Julian’s brother Billy is killed their mother, Jenna (Kristin Scott Thomas), arrives in the city. She wants revenge and forces Julian to find the killer. Julian’s contacts in the criminal underworld lead him directly to The Angel of Vengeance, a retired police officer who knows everything and who is both Judge and Punisher. Jenna demands that Julian kill The Angel of Vengeance, an act that will cost him dearly.
