If you were planning on getting some Popeye's Chicken while visiting the mall you will be out of luck.

Crossgates Mall in Guilderland, NY has one of the better food courts when it comes to variety. There is something for literally anyone, and while I miss Hot Dog Charlie's being in the mall they've added some amazing restaurants for you to dine at.

While I was at Crossgates recently I wandered my way through the food court and saw al the lights were off at Popeye's. The warm glow of that open sign was off and while every other food spot was lit up brightly (and full of customers), Popeye's was vacant. No employees. No lights. No chicken. It looked like they had shut down and ran off without any explanation.

Sorry we're closed

According to the sign that was posted they are closed while they do renovations and hope to be back open next week. That's a real shame for them because this is spring break for many local schools and they're missing out on that increased foot traffic at the mall.

While I was there I didn't notice anything different about the location. I didn't notice any work being done. Maybe they're getting new equipment to cook with because it's not like they need to renovate a space for customers to sit at.

I hope that whatever construction they're doing is done quickly so that we can all go back to enjoying that delicious friend chicken they make. I would have to say that of all the fast food chicken places, Popeye's is my favorite.

In the mean time there are plenty of other food options in the food court and the rest of the Capital Region.
