Real American Video Critic (VIDEO)
All the buzz about Guns & Roses getting back together, made me want to be a part of it, so I started watching some old G & R music videos, and I found that I am still confused about what is going on in the "November Rain" video.
Although the video won a award for "Best Cinematography" and is one of the most expensive music videos of all time, it makes absolutely no sense.
I understand that the general idea, is that Axl is remembering the tragic tale, of when he married a beautiful woman, and then she dies.
Now here is where I get confused:
They never indicate wether or not this is a fictional band, or Guns & Roses.
They also never explain how Axl's wife dies, it has been suggested that she killed herself, but why?
In the video, you can see that she is having moments of doubt during the wedding, and during the funeral, there is a mirror covering half of her face, indicating that she died of some sort of head trauma.
So she shot herself in the head because she married Axl?
As I pointed out earlier, they never declare that the band in the video is not Guns & Roses, so we can only assume that it is, and in real life, Axl never got married to the girl in the video, who is Stephanie Seymour, and was Axl's girlfriend at the time, Stephanie Seymour is still alive, she married a billionaire and has 4 kids.
Another weird thing I noticed about the video:
After Slash hands the priest the rings, he leaves the church, but not the same church that he was originally in, then he walks outside and plays an awesome guitar solo, in an empty field, outside of the church, that he has never been inside of.
Another thing about that scene, I think it's a metaphor, because Slash leaves the church after delivering the rings, so did the band break up?
Is that why Slash leaves and ends up in a completely different place, then the rest of the band?
In conclusion:
I think that what "November Rain" is really about, is Axl trying to cope with the fact, that no one wants be around him for too long.
