Remembering AJ Pero of Twisted Sister
We remember drummer AJ Pero today (March 20) on the 2 year anniversary of his passing. AJ passed away of a heart attack at the age of 55.
I was always a huge Twisted Sister fan. The band was part of the soundtrack to my youth, and I was lucky enough to meet the band, including AJ over the years at many Twisted Sister concerts. I also got the chance to work with AJ at the annual Biker’s for Babies motorcycle events back in the day to benefit the March of Dimes. He was such a nice guy and I was very saddened by the news of his passing. I recall djing at a bar one night when AJ showed up and hung out with everyone. He signed autographs and took pictures with everybody. He was a real class act. He had joined the band Adrenaline Mob in 2014 as replacement for drummer Mike Portnoy and was also a member of the band Four By Fate. AJ Pero passed away suddenly form a massive heart attack on March 20, 2015 in Poughkeepsie where he was scheduled to perform with the band Adrenaline Mob.
On June 13, 2015 Twisted Sister payed tribute to A.J. with a special concert at Starland Ballroom in Sayerville NJ. Check out video below. Always remembered, never forgotten. Forever Twisted.
