Today (Sept. 25) we remember legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham who we lost on this day back in 1980 at the age of 32.

John Bonham was born in Redditch, Worcestershire, England on May 31st 1948. His distinctive sound made him one of on of the greatest rock drummers of all time. Along with singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page, and bassist John Paul Paul Jones, Bonham helped bring huge success to Led Zeppelin. Commercial success came with albums like Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin 2, Led Zeppelin 3, Led Zeppelin 4, Houses of the Holy, and Physical Graffiti. Led Zeppelin 4 would feature one of the biggest rock songs of all time in “Stairway to Heaven”.

John Bonham died on Sept. 25 1980 after consuming a large amount of vodka and choking on his own vomit. His death was ruled accidental. Crank some Zeppelin in Bonzo’s honor today!
