Samuel's Sweet Shop, located in the Hudson Valley, now ranks among the 10 best Candy Stores Across the United States of America. Samuel's Sweet Shop, 42 East Market Street in Rhinebeck, is the only candy store in New York State to be ranked in the Top 10.

There is nothing quite like the joy of having a mom and pop candy store in your area. Sure, you can grab a Twix bar and a box of Skittles at the local convenience store but that isn't the same as a shop with homemade chocolates, nostalgic candy, baked goods and more.

My girlfriend and I love to take weekend day trips. Any destination within 2 hours of home is where we like to go, and in many of these small towns we have a favorite chocolate shop. In Stockbridge, MA, for example, we love Peace, Love & Chocolate at 32 Main Street.

In Rhinebeck our initial draw was to see the candy store co-owned by actors Paul Rudd, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and his wife Hilarie Burton Morgan. Once we arrived we almost forgot the celebrity status because Samuel's Sweet Shop offers so much more.

USA Today's 10 Best Reader's Choice Awards nominated a number of candy shops in America, reader's voted and Samuel's Sweet Shop landed at #9 in the United States! Here are just a few treats you might find at Samuel's:

  • Salty, sweet and crunchy clodhoppers
  • Samuel's signature dark chocolate bark
  • Milk chocolate-covered Swedish Fish
  • Strawberry Gummi Teeth
  • Milk chocolate sea salt caramel popcorn
