Not only is there a celebrity owned candy shop in the Hudson Valley, it is one of the finest sweet shops in America.

Samuel's Sweet Shop, at 42 East Market Street, in Rhinebeck, NY was recently named one of the 10 Best Candy Shops in America by USA Today. By the way, did you know this quaint little sugar shack is owned by actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, actress Hilarie Burton Morgan and actor Paul Rudd?

In 1994, a man named Ira Gutner opened Samuel's of Rhinebeck and operated the candy shop for 20 years before suddenly passing away in 2014. Gutner was a beloved member of the community and his passing touched many people, including the Morgan's and Rudd.

With Samuel's of Rhinebeck in danger of having to close, these three celebrities joined forces with others to purchase the store and keep Ira's dream alive. Today the store is known as Samuel's Sweet Shop and you never know who you will run into there. Maybe pop in for your Valentine's candy?

In addition to the chocolate, hard candy, and delicious coffee, you can pick up one of their celebrity treats featuring Paul Rudd, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and/or Hilarie Morgan's face!
