Happy Birthday today (Feb. 24) today to George Thorogood. He’s 68. Other rockers celebrating include singer guitarist Derek St. Holmes (Ted Nugent) who turns 65 and bassist Steven Dawson of Saxon (66).

George Thorogood first gained mainstream exposure back in 1981 opening for the Rolling Stones on their U.S. tour. With his band, the Delaware Destroyers, Thorogood has sold over 15 million records and they celebrated their 40th anniversary a couple of years ago. Songs like “Bad to the Bone” and “I Drink Alone” were rock radio staples in the 1980’s. He also helped popularize classic songs that he put his own spin on like “Move It on Over” along with blues classics “Who Do You Love?” and “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer.” I had the chance to meet George Thorogood at a show a few years back where I hosted a meet and greet with radio station listeners. The show rocked! Check out a pic below.
