Eddie Murphy has withdrawn from hosting the 84th Academy Awards Show.  Eddie announced he would not host after Brett Ratner who directed his new movie , Tower Heist, resigned as a producer of the telecast after using a gay slur at a recent Q&A. The 84th Academy Awards will air live on ABC from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on February 26th.

Oscar producers have announced that Eddie Murphy will host the Oscars next year. Murphy was rumored to be among the short list of potential hosts for the show and has received an Oscar nomination for his supporting role in the 2006 film Dreamgirls. The Academy Awards will air live from the Kodak Theater on Sunday, February 26th, 2012 on ABC.
