A new poll asked New Yorkers the jobs they are most thankful for and the results were shockingly wholesome.

Being a teacher is a rewarding and challenging career. A study was conducted to determine the state that had the best teachers and I think it was no surprise that New York came in at number one.

And it was only the first day.

New research says that teachers in New York have it better than teachers in any other part of the country.

New York is one of the states that pay its teachers the highest salaries in the nation. For anyone who has ever dreamed of becoming a teacher, look to teach in our backyard in New York. USA facts and US News & World Report state that New York teachers' average salary is $76,680 – the highest in the United States.

Our teachers have been heroes throughout the pandemic and into this new school year. To honor our educators, McDonald's is giving them "thank you meals". These free breakfast meals are available to teachers, school staff, and administrators starting today and running through October 15th.

We all know that teachers are the backbone of our communities in molding and shaping our kids. But there is a serious shortage of teachers and my alma matter is switching it up a little to make sure the substitute teaching jobs are filled. They are thinking outside the box.

There is a new program that is aiming to create more teachers here in the Capital Region. It focuses on actual in-classroom student teaching for a more on-the-job learning approach.
