When it hit nearly 80 last week, it was a pretty sure bet that the remaining snow that had been lingering in spotty snowbanks was about to be gone for the season. Usually March is the more unpredictable month during winter, but some parts of New York got socked with a mid-April winter storm Monday night into Tuesday.

The storm dropped a couple inches of heavy, wet snow on the immediate Capital Region, but some areas, especially to the north, got hit with a good old fashioned nor'easter. The snow took down tree limbs and branches and knocked out power to thousands across the state, but there is one place that's celebrating, because their season just got extended.

Gore Mountain announced they'll be open for at least one more weekend this season. Thanks to the snow and cooler temps expected later this week, the mountain says they plan on welcoming back skiers for one last winter hurrah.

Gore is offering reduced ticket prices at $50 per day this weekend. According to SnoCountry.com, they'll be open both Saturday and Sunday from 8:30am to 4pm.

So, if you put away all the ski gear for the 2021-2022 season, dig it out one more time and get your final runs in. Unless of course another storm makes its way through the area, which isn't unheard of for April.

By the way, if you feel the need to keep skiing into summer, Killington Mountain in Vermont has been known to keep running all the way to June.
