I'll never forget seeing the Kinks with my Dad in 1982. It was outside at Riverbend Amphitheater in Cincinnati. Joan Jett opened and they played one of my favorite songs from the Kinks "Apeman". Now, almost 40 years later I have the opportunity to talk to Dave Davies and thank him for the great music and memories.

Dave Davies was calling to talk about the 50th Anniversary of "Lola Versus Powerman and The Moneygoround Part One" came out in December. It's an amazing box set with tons of extras including outtakes, new mixes, and even a new song. I asked Dave Davies what he remembered about recording that album back in 1969. He said it was the tension that he remembered most. They fed off that tension to make a great album.

We also talked about his iconic Gibson Flying V guitar. He bought that at a thrift store after his Gretch guitar was lost by the airline he flew. I always hear he bought the Flying V for $60, but Dave corrected me and said it was actually $200.

Of course, we talked about the pandemic and future touring plans with his brother, Ray, and solo. He said he's planning on hitting the road as soon as he's allowed. Also, the pandemic has given him the opportunity to meditate and reminisce about what's important in life....like family, friends, and his relationship with his brother.
