The Worst Potholes in Albany, NY? This Bumpy Road May Take That Honor
There are some bad pothole spots around the Capital Region, but this spot between Crossgates Mall and Walmart is one of the worst.
Spring time brings many things to the Capital Region. Ice cream spots start to open, the days get longer, the grass gets greener and the potholes make themselves very obvious.
You can't escape the pothole situation and it happens every single year after a longer winter of having the roads beaten up while road crews battle the elements to keep the surfaces safe for us to drive on.
With that comes the horrible pothole season. This particular spot that takes you from Corssgates to Walmart might be the worst in the entire Capital Region. See this video below for example.
If this were the 90s and you had a CD in that thing would be skipping like crazy. You can't drive the speed limit through this area as it is far too dangerous and the holes are like craters. You have to slow way down in order to get through there without doing some damage to your car.
That got me thinking. Who is responsible if your car is damaged due to a pothole? You'd think that the city would pick up the tab for something they're responsible for fixing, but you'd also be putting your faith in our community leaders and that's just you being silly.
You can file a claim with the City of Albany if you do get damage, but there's not guarantee they'll cover the cost. At the end of the day they determine who they feel is liable, and I have a feeling they're going to find themselves not at fault pretty often.
