This Is Why Some Water In The Capital Region May Be Brown This Week
If your water is a little discolored in parts of the Capital Region this week you're not alone this is why.
Whether you own a home or rent in Upstate New York the last thing you want to see when you turn on your faucet is for it to be anything but clear running water. Unfortunately sometimes the water can be a bit cloudy, but what does it mean when that water turns a slight shade of brown?
You may think that there is something wrong with the pipes in your home, or that there could be a sewage backup somewhere. However there is a good chance that what you're experiencing is the flushing of your town or cities water system. They do this so that the pipes are maintained and in good health.
Latham Water Flushing
CBS6 reports that Latham will be flushing their system this week, starting March 17 and going through March 21. The flushing will take place between 7:30am and 4pm, because why not do this while you're trying to get ready for the day?
What you can expect is for your water to be slightly discolored or cloudy during this time, but no need to panic.
They also made to let everyone know that this is a normal process and while the water may be slightly different in color it is not unsafe and poses no health risks. However they advise you to not use your washing machines or dish washers during this time because it will leave things stained.
