Everyone knows that if you like taking in the natural splendor of fall in Upstate New York, that means getting outside in the Adirondack Mountains and doing some leaf-peeping. According to experts...and how do you become a leaf-peeping expert? Is that like a degree at SUNY? Anyway, I digress...according to experts this weekend will be the peak of color for this year's fall leaves.

There are several great ways to see the beautiful changing fall leaves. You can take a scenic hike, ride on a historic train through the mountains, find a great backroad to cruise the Adirondack Mountains, or maybe try railbiking.

So what is railbiking? I'm glad you asked. It's basically riding the old train tracks through the Adirondack Mountains on a custom-made peddle-powered rail car. They come in two or four-seat models and are great for couples or families to get out and enjoy nature. You can go as slow or fast as you want and can even stop and just "feast your soul" as my Grandma Pudge used to say....soaking in nature's fall pallet.

I personally haven't had the opportunity to try a railbiking adventure yet, but this weekend I might give it a try. I've had friends that have done it and they absolutely loved it.

Here in Upstate New York, there are three Railbiking companies that offer fall leaf-peeping trips.
