The Metal Box is a weekly web series posted each Friday where we discuss all things hard rock and heavy metal: news, videos, interviews, live concerts and more.

This week we talk about Iron Maiden announcing the 2018 'Legacy of the Beast' World Tour. Watch video above.

Iron Maiden was formed in 1975 out of east London by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris. The band were pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and achieved initial success in the early 80’s, and have had several platinum and gold albums in the UK and U.S including 1982’s Number of the Beast.  Number of the Beast was the first album to feature new singer Bruce Dickinson who replaced Paul Di’Anno in the band. The album was a commercial success and landmark album for the band reaching No. 1 in the UK and going platinum in the United States. Singles off the album included the title track, “The Number of the Beast” and Run to the Hills”. Dickinson has become one of the most acclaimed heavy metal vocalists of all time having issued a series of platinum and gold albums with Iron Maiden throughout the 80’s. The band continues to be a huge concert draw all over the world. Iron Maiden’ last studio album (their sixteenth) The Book of Souls was released in 2015.
