Tig’s Metal Box: Scorpions Guitarist Matthias Jabs [Interview]
The Metal Box is a weekly web series posted each Friday where we discuss all things hard rock and heavy metal: news, videos, interviews, live concerts and more.
This week we have an interview with guitarist Matthias Jabs of the Scorpions. Scorpions kicked off their Crazy World 2017 Tour with Megadeth this week and the tour hits Madison Square Garden in NYC this Saturday, Sept. 16. We talk about the tour, Matthias' nearly 40 years with the Scorpions, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and more. Watch the full interview above.
The Scorpions were formed in 1964 out of Hanover, Germany. The most successful lineup of the group was from 1978-1992 featuring Klaus Meine on vocals, guitarists Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs, bassist Francis Buchholz, and drummer Herman Rarebell. The group’s melodic, heavy metal sound and rock power ballads led to much commercial success throughout the 1980’s with albums like Animal Magnetism, Blackout, Love at First Sting, World Wide Live, and Savage Amusement. Their best-selling album would be 1990’s Crazy World featuring the huge hit power ballad “Wind of Change”.
