Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello has joined an extensive list of artists who have signed up to join Occupy Musicians, a newly-launched online initiative for “sound engineers, sound artists, producers, DJs, instrumentalists, composers, and lyricists” who support the Occupy Movement and its syndicate of protests in cities on all corner of the globe.

“We, the undersigned musicians and all who will join us, support Occupy Wall Street and the Occupy Movement around the world,” reads the simple post on the website for Occupy Musicians, which launched Monday. Other artists who have signed on include members of Sonic Youth and Fugazi, plus Dead Kennedy’s singer Jello Biafra and Lou Reed.

Much like the similarly themed Occupy Writers, Occupy Filmmakers and Occupy Comics initiatives, Occupy Musicians provides an online gathering place for all types of musicians looking to empower the Occupy movement.

Morello already has been an active participant in Occupy, having performed under his the Nightwatchman persona with acoustic sets at Occupy gatherings in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, Canada, and even England.

Meanwhile, Morello’s RATM bandmate, singer Zack de la Rocha, recently penned a poem in a show of solidarity with Occupy Movement, dedicating it to the protesters whose “courage is changing the world.”
