Too Many Tacos? Not for This Record Setting Albany Competitive Eater
Could you eat 41 tacos? It sounds like it wouldn't be that hard, but eating that volume of food is way harder than it looks. Well, maybe not for one man from the Capital Region.
Mark Gdd is a competitive eater from Albany and he went on quite an eating spree in Michigan on his last eating vacation trip. While on vacation he visited four different places that had eating challenges. According to Mlive.com, the first challenge was, Bagger Dave’s Burger Tavern’s Freight Train Challenge, a three-pound burger, and fries dinner that Mark finished in 11 minutes and 34 seconds. The second eating challenge was City Limit’s Triple Bypass Burger Challenge, another burger challenge that he finished in 15 minutes and 56 seconds. At this point, most humans would be done, but not Mark he also did the third challenge at Old Iron Bar & Grill’s Hoginator Sandwich Challenge where he demolished a BBQ pork sandwich challenge with fries on the side that is about 5 pounds of food that you have to finish in an hour. Mark did it in 48 minutes and 36 seconds. Then came the taco challenge....Trini & Joe’s Taco Wall of Fame Challenge. You have to eat 13 tacos in the first hour and then you have 2 hours to consume as many as you can. Mark Gdd set a new record by downing 41 tacos in 1 hour, 26 minutes, and 59 seconds. All I can say is impressive.
I tried an eating challenge once about 5 years ago. It's a huge stacked burger called "The Stellenator" from Stella's in Bellevue, Nebraska. I didn't finish it and joined the "Hall of Shame". It wasn't the volume of food that stopped me, it was all the chewing....it made my jaw hurt so much I couldn't continue after about 40 minutes.
This is me looking all optimistic before the challenge.
Mark Gdd has a YouTube Channel and videos of these eating challenges will be up soon. In the meantime, you can enjoy videos of all the other eating challenges he has conquered.
