Star Trek: TNG Fan Faves Will Visit Upstate New York? Make It So!
Since the launch of Paramount+, Star Trek has been having another Renaissance on the small screen. While streaming shows like Discovery and Strange New Worlds explore new frontiers, Picard has enjoyed a lot of success bringing back fan favorite characters from late 80s/early 90s classic Star Trek: The Next Generation. Now some of those same pop culture icons are coming to the Capital Region!
We're honestly a little spoiled for Star Trek visits lately. Mr. Sulu, George Takei, is speaking in Glens Falls in a sold out October event for the Crandall Public Library. Captain Kirk - William Shatner, himself - is also beaming down to Upstate this month and again in November to Ticonderoga's "Star Trek Tour."
That same Lake George attraction will soon be hosting three of the original Next Generation cast for "Trekonderoga."
What Star Trek fan favorites are coming to the Capital Region?
First is Gates McFadden, who played Dr. Beverly Crusher for all seven seasons of TNG and was in four movies. She will also be in season 3 of Picard, coming to Paramount+ next year.
Second is John de Lancie, who was Q - a multidimension being who was a borderline villain throughout TNG's run. He first introduced Picard to the Borg, after all. You may also know him from a brief stint in Breaking Bad seasons 2 and 3.
Finally, Lt. Commander Data, Brent Spiner, will be in attendance for Trekonderoga. Data played a massive role in TNG, an even bigger role in the movies, and was brought back for Picard's first season. In other alien-centric fun, Spiner also played Dr. Brackish Okun in patriotic cinematic mainstay Independence Day and its unfortunate sequel, Independence Day: Resurgence.
When is Trekonderoga?
The event is August 19-21 at the Star Trek Set Tour. The actors will give a talk together for everyone in attendance, with additional VIP experiences available including autograph sessions, private meet and greets, and even a photo with Data, Dr. Crusher, and Q on the bridge. Tickets are on sale now.
