November 12th will be the debut of UFC in New York at Madison Square Garden, which is great. Now Albany will get its own event shortly after.

Back when Governor Cuomo passed the bill allowing mixed martial arts to hold events in New York and it was announced that Madison Square Garden would hold an event and later in the year another event would be held upstate. I remember reading that thinking that maybe Syracuse would end up getting that later event. Much to many's surprise a few days ago it was announced that the Time's Union Center would indeed be the arena to hold the show. Which is awesome!

I must admit, I am not the most avid fan of MMA or UFC. Im occasional. I did buy UFC 200 mainly due to Brock Lesnar but still can see the appeal to the millions of people across the country that are die hard into the sport. Cuomo also sees that appeal and the amount of revenue it can create as well. Hopefully this is the start of many more events of this sort coming to the capital region. More on the announcement of this below.
