Wham, bam, thank you Metal Allegiance. During their recent appearance in Anaheim at the  "Tribute to Fallen Heroes" show, the members of Metal Allegiance chose to kick off their night of salutes with one of the biggest legends there is -- David Bowie.

Death Angel's Mark Osegueda was front and center for the introduction of the song, not only explaining the night's theme of celebrating the livelihoods and legacies of a number of beloved artists who have passed, but also reflecting a year prior to learning of David Bowie's death during a Metal Allegiance show.

"Sometime back last year, Metal Allegiance played in San Francisco and in between songs ... our tech showed me his phone and I read the words and it just broke me in half, it took me on my knees and it ripped my heart out of my chest, and it was that David Bowie had passed," states Osegueda, in the intro seen below. "I had the unfortunate task to tell the crowd that evening, and right now we're going to celebrate that man's incredible, incredible legacy." Bowie passed away on Jan. 10, 2016 at the age of 69.

After announcing "Suffragette City," which can be found on Metal Allegiance's Fallen Heroes EP, Osegueda was joined by core members Alex Skolnick, Mark Menghi and Mike Portnoy along with fellow special guest Phil Demmel of Machine Head for a raucous version of the song. Skolnick, in particular, gets a chance to display his dexterity on the fretboard during the performance, while Portnoy powers the song toward its high energy conclusion. Watch it all play out in the video above.
