Whitehall, New York has not had water since an emergency was declared on Sunday afternoon.

Running water is something that so many of us take for granted. We turn on the faucet and there it is. Until it's not. Being without water, a basic need for living, is something that the folks in Whitehall, NY have had to deal with for days without knowing when that water is expected to be back on.

On Sunday afternoon an alert went out, according to WTEN, issuing a water restriction for the village. They said that it was due to drought like conditions but it turns out there was a massive failure of their water system that caused the water shortage. The system isn't drawing in enough water from Pine Lake, the source of water. They aren't sure what happened, but an investigation into the water system is underway,

On Monday morning many learned that they in fact had no water at all. Schools were closed and residents were left scrambling. Not only is there no water to drink, but also no water to cook or clean with. That would include showers or baths.

As of now, there's still no estimate on how long they village will be without water. They're working with the American Red Cross to get water to residents during this time.
