Who Are The Stars With Ties To The Capital Region?
A few weeks ago I wrote about, Gabriella Pizzolo, the actress from Schenectady that had a scene stealing moment in the latest season of Stranger Things on Netflix. That got me wondering about what other stars have had ties to the Capital District. Here are a few that I found with a quick google search.
David Hyde Pierce, most famous as Niles on the TV show Frasier was born and raised in Saratoga Springs.
Martha Quinn, one of the original MTV VJ’s was born in Albany.
Ann B. Davis, actress who played Alice in the Brady Bunch was born in Schenectady.
Mike Tyson, boxer/actor/ear biter wasn’t born here but had his first boxing match in Albany and his first televised match was in Troy.
Mickey Rourke, actor/boxer/wrestler was born in Schenectady.
William Devane, actor that typically plays a bad guy or government official was born in Albany. He’s most famous for his roles in The West Wing, Stargate SG1 and 24.
Andy Rooney, TV/Radio commentator and humorist was born in Albany and most famous as the, “Did ya ever wonder….” curmudgeon on 60 Minutes.
Ed Burns, actor most famous for his role in Saving Private Ryan is actually from Queens, NY, but went to the University at Albany.
