The stage is set for the AA Suburban Council High School Baseball Section II championship series.  This will be the first time ever that the sectional title is decided with a best of three series as opposed to a single championship game as it has been in the past.  I have to say I am a fan of the new format.  Both Saratoga and Shaker have had very solid seasons.  This year was one of the wildest in recent memory for the suburban council.   There were so many good pitchers and players.  There was also a ton of parody as everybody won and lost big games.  Here is my quick take on this from the Times Union:

I like the format change for the Class AA baseball finals. For the first time, it’s a best of three series at Joe Bruno Stadium to determine the Section II Champion. This gives the favored team a chance to battle back if they lose game one, and it gives both teams a better chance to adjust their pitching depth. One extra day or even two, changes the strategy on how each manager approaches the game.

MJ and I discussed the new format earlier this morning on Big Board Sports.  He was also a fan like myself.  Below is our conversation on this.

I don't know who to give the edge to in this game.  Both teams are really solid and have had excellent seasons to this point.  Coach Cuthbertson for Saratoga and Coach Rispole for Shaker will have their guys ready to go.  I can't wait for the series to begin at the Joe Bruno Stadium tomorrow night.
