The Boston Red Sox will take on the New York Yankees in an important four game series which begins on Thursday night.  These two bitter American League East rivals have not faced each other in three months since the opening series of the season in April.  The Yankees are currently 14 games clear of both the Tampa Bay Rays and the Red Sox and are 14.5 clear of the Blue Jays.  This series is important for both teams.  For Boston, it is an opportunity to slowly close the gap on the Yanks and also to solidify second place within the AL East division.  For New York, it is a chance to expand their already very large lead on the division.

MJ and I had on two guests earlier this morning right here on Big Board Sports each representing one side of this series.  We had on Yankee beat writer Brendan Kuty from NJ.com and Red Sox beat writer Chris Cotillo from MassLive.com.  Below is both of our interviews with them.

Gerrit Cole has a chance to silence his haters with a good start tonight as the last time he pitched at Fenway Park was the 2021 AL Wildcard Game in which he did not pitch well and the Yankees lost.  Aaron Boone and Alex Cora are two of the best managers in all of baseball and in this pivotal matchup look for one of them to try and get the upper hand.  I can't wait for this series as any time these two teams play it is always really fun to watch.  We will see who comes out on top or if it ends in a split.
