Bradley Manning who was facing 90 years with the government only seeking 60 was only sentenced to 35 years in prison for leaking information to Wikileaks.

His time already served (1293 days) plus the 112 days for "abusive treatment " will be taken off his sentence. Manning still has to serve at least 1/3 of his sentence before being considered for parole.

Manning did apologize for his actions.

sorry that I hurt the United States.

According to Manning's lawyers Manning at first thought he was helping the American people have a better understanding of the war, but as time went on he started having personal issues that may have clouded his judgement. Such as struggling with his sexuality, a break up and the general stress soldiers experience during war.

Whether if he was just a pawn or the mastermind in the leaks, the defense has to be happy with the outcome of the trial. This could have been much worse for Manning.
