Will RPI Or Union Win The Dutchman Shoes Game On Saturday?
What a weekend we have for local sports. We have high school soccer teams making state title runs and have high school football sectional championship games. We have the return of the Albany Cup between UAlbany and Siena. We also have the Dutchman Shoes Trophy Game between RPI and Union. It is the oldest college football rivalry in New York State. It is such a big game each year it is played. Both teams come in with an overall 6-3 record and are relatively even on paper.
The game will be at RPI Saturday afternoon with a noon kick. The Engineers beat the Dutchmen 19-17 last year in a great low scoring game. This years game should be no different as both teams have very good defenses. Coach Jeff Behrman at Union and Coach Ralph Isernia at RPI are two of the best college football coaches around the Capital Region as they do it the right way and their teams represent them and the universities so well.
MJ and I had a loaded Friday show and really a loaded week here on Big Board Sports. We had both Coach Behrman and Coach Isernia on earlier this morning and afternoon. They both were great per usual and had nothing but respect for one another. Below are both of our interviews with the coaches.
I expect a really close and competitive football game on Saturday. I hope anyone who can heads over to RPI and watches one of the best rivalries in all of college sports especially here in the Capital Region.
