The film world has finally been able to translate comic books and graphic novels to the big screen, but one thing they have failed on time and again is making the video game movie. Have we seen bigger movie fails then trying to take a really cool video game and making it into a full length feature film?  Sure there have been a couple good ones.  The Resident Evil movies have been pretty good, but other than that I can't seem to think of any that have been good.  Sure I have my guilty pleasures like the first Mortal Kombat movie, but I can't even say that if these movies were on I could stomach to watch them.

They don't seem to have any trouble taking a movie and making it into a video game, but when they do it the other way around it just ends up bad.  So lets take a look at the top 5 worst video game movies of all time.  This could get rough guys.

5. Street Fighter

Street Fighter is hands down one of my favorite video games of all time. So in 1994, when I saw they were making a movie based on it I was so excited. Now in hind site I should of realized that it was going to be pretty bad because Jean Claude Van Damme was the star. I do give them credit for keeping the characters looking pretty much like they did in the video game, most don't do that. That may have also lead to it being so bad, because it looked like a live action cartoon. Just all around a poor attempt at a movie that could of been awesome.

4. Double Dragon

When I was a kid I loved this movie, but looking at it now I have no idea what I was thinking. Scott Wolf, or as I like to call him, Party of Five, is a terrible actor! As evident in the new version of V, he hasn't really improved.  This is just a bad movie all around, forget video game genre.  Once again Hollywood took one of my favorite games, and ruined it for me.  Plus what the hell is the Chairman of Iron Chef doing in this movie?  Stop the karate and just tell me what the secret ingredient is please.

3. Wing Commander

Honestly, I have no idea what they were thinking with this one. They took a very exciting video game and turned it into a boring movie staring Freddie Prinze Jr and Matthew Lillard, later reunited in Scooby Doo where they each won an Oscar. Oh they didn't? Your kidding?

2. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation

Like I said before, the first Motal Kombat movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. However I wouldn't touch this one with a 100 foot pole. Talk about dropping the ball. They tried to add in way too many characters and went absolutely crazy with the special effects. I think this movie is the reason why it has been so hard to reboot this franchise.  People are unfortunately still left with the bad taste of this in their mouths.

1. Super Mario Bros

Another one of the most beloved video games in the world, ruined by Hollywood. Even actor Bob Hoskins regrets doing this one.  Just another case of Hollywood trying to make a quick buck on something that was very popular at the time.  Even as a kid watching this I remember thinking, what the hell?  Hands down the worst video game movie ever made.  The Mario games continue to be successful, and the new one for Wii is awesome, but please no more movies.
