Yikes! If you were thinking about whipping up some eggs this morning for breakfast you might want to give those eggs a closer look before you begin cooking. According to News10 200 million eggs have been recalled because of potential salmonella contamination.
The eggs which originated from Rose Acre Farms’ in Hyde County, North Carolina were sold throughout New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Florida, Colorado, New Jersey, North Carolina and South Carolina. The FDA says the affected eggs are from plant number P-1065 with the Julian date range of 011 through date of 102 printed on either the side portion or the principal side of the carton or package you can see the full list codes by clicking here.
The bacteria causes nausea, diarrhea and, in rare cases, death. I think I'm going to be sticking with cereal or bagels for the next week or so until this whole situation gets sorted out.
