The Virgin Galactc Space line is being developed and funded by billionaire adventurer Sir Richard Bronson.  Currently, the space ships are only in the testing phase.

Friday afternoon, the suborbital Virgin Galactic spacecraft, called SpaceShipTwo, was dropped from a mothership plane and maneuvered through the skies over the Mojave Air and Space Port. The test lasted 14 minutes and 31 seconds.  This test was the fifth in a series of test flights dating back to the fall of 2010.

More tests of the SpaceShipTwo are expected to get the craft ready for commercial operations.  Still to come are the SpaceShipTwo tests involving short, medium and long blasts from the spacecraft's hybrid rocket motor.

Meanwhile, construction of New Mexico's Spaceport America,  the world's first commercial spaceport is nearing completion. This "spaceport" will support Virgin Galactic's commercial space business of flying passengers into space.  Once fully operationable the space port will be able to launch ships into space veritically and land horizontally.

So very soon, if you have the money you can ride into space without having to be a part of a space program or NASA.  One of the first requests of purchasing  a ticket came from a pornographic studio looking to shoot a film in space thus becoming the first to join the 220 mile high club.  Virgin has declined their request.
