Albany Man Arrested After Traffic Stop! Troopers Find Illegal Guns and More!
The New York State Police have several departments that specialize in specific areas of law enforcement. These specialty units include but aren't limited to Underwater Recovery, K9, Bomb Disposal, Special Ops and Community Stabilization Unit or CSU.
This week, New York State CSU officers were involved in 2 investigations that revealed illegal guns, illegal drugs, brass knuckles, and the eventual arrest of an Albany man and 5 others. It was like a scene out of Sons of Anarchy.
On Sunday June 12th, New York State Troopers and CSU officers observed what they believe were 2 separate vehicle and traffic violations in the town of Chenango. These stops lead to the investigation of 6 individuals. 2 were arrested at the scene, including Nephrem W. Holt of Albany.
Holt and Jeffrey Everetts of Pennsylvania were allegedly in possession of several illegal guns and magazines not compliant with the SAFE Act. It is also alleged that the two were in possession of illegal metal knuckles and suspected illegal narcotics.
Nephrem W. Holt of Albany was charged with two counts of the class “D” felony of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree and the misdemeanor of Criminal Possession of Weapon in the fourth degree. Everetts had similar charges plus 2 additional counts of the class “D” felony of Criminal Possession of a Weapon.
On another stop in the same town on a different street, CSU Officers investigated the other 4 individuals, each from Pennsylvania, and found that they too were in possession of several illegals guns and illegal magazines that are not compliant with the SAFE Act.
All six men were arraigned at Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing and remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail
