
Albany Police Officer Stabbed, Suspect Shot in the City’s South End
Update 10:37pm: NewsChannel 13 reports the incident started as a domestic dispute. A 54 year old man reportedly swung a knife at an officer, another officer shot the man. Both are said to be in stable condition at Albany Med.
Update 3:01pm: No word yet on the condition of the officer or the suspect
Police are on the scene of an officer involved shooting on Franklin Street in Albany. The Times Union is reporting a large police presence in the South End of Albany Monday afternoon. The activity is concentrated between Basset Street and 4th Avenue.
Neighbors tell NewsChannel 13 they heard at least one gunshot Monday afternoon. Tessa Bentulan is on the scene and says police have told her an officer was stabbed, the assailant was shot.
There is also a heavy police presence at Albany Med. A press conference is expected to be held later this afternoon.
