Right across the street from Averill Park High School is a very unassuming restaurant with a military theme and amazing food. Not exactly the kinda food you'd get in the mess hall if you served in our military. It's truly gourmet food served on the same metal trays that you might have used in basic training. Owned by a former Navy culinary specialist, the Mess Hall is a small but really popular restaurant that resembles an Army bunker in Averill Park. They well out of their dinner specials almost every night.

My family loves going there to grab take-out. The one thing that was always kinda difficult about the current location of the Mess Hall was the limited seating....it's small...like REALLY small. Well, it looks like that's about to change because the Mess Hall is moving to a bigger location. Unfortunately, it's not in Averill Park, but it's still close enough that we will be eating there on a regular basis. The new location is just still pretty close to the old location at 8905 Rt. 66, in Poestenkill, NY.

When one door closes... another opens

We are moving from our current location, just a short ways away to 8905 Rt. 66, Poestenkill. Keep an eye out for for our grand re-opening date

On the Mess Hall Facebook page, they said they are hoping for a mid-October opening for their new location. The best part of them moving locations is they will have a lot more room for indoor seating. I can't wait for it to reopen.
