Want to save people, be a hero without wearing a cape and make a pretty good salary? Well, you're in luck. The Schenectady Fire Department is looking for new recruits.

According to an article in The Daily Gazette the number of people applying to be a fire fighter has been shrinking in the Capital Region and all over the country.

The department will hold several information sessions to drum up interest. The first is Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at Schenectady Fire Department’s Veeder Avenue headquarters.

To be a firefighter you need to be a certified paramedic and have at least 60 college credits to be granted an interview, but can take the exam before meeting those requirements. Recruits will also be required to take a physical fitness exam.
