If you go out looking to buy hand sanitizer from your local store or even online, you're going to be surprised. There basically isn't any and when you do find some the price has been jacked up through the roof. I saw two bottles of Purell on Amazon for $80. That's just ridiculous price gouging.

So what can you do? You can make your own. It's pretty easy and experts say it's just as effective as the store bought stuff.

First the easy recipe. This is the one that I would use because it's simple, only uses a couple of easy to find ingredients and it seems to be pretty inexpensive.

HERE'S ALL YOU NEED:

  • 2/3 Cup Rubbing Alcohol (at least 60% alcohol)
  • 1 Cup Aloe Vera Gel
  • Mixing Bowl

Put the rubbing alcohol and Aloe Vera Gel in the bowl and mix it up. If you really want to be fancy you could put a few drops of essential oils to make it smell pretty. Then just put it in some kind of squeeze or pump bottle and you're all set to wipe out the novel coronavirus.

Even though hand sanitizer is great for combating the spread of the virus the CDC and WHO both say proper hand washing is still the best defense against the spread of the virus.
