Unfortunately, this might be the first of many local small businesses that are forced to close their doors permanently because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Capital Melts - A Grilled Cheese Cafe opened in 2014 in Albany and served some amazing gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. True hot and gooey comfort food. My favorite was the Mozzarella Sticks Signature Melt it was like a trip to a pizza joint on a grilled cheese. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I had the opportunity to visit their location at 136 State St a few times since moving to the Capital Region.

Sadly, there won't be anymore Mozzarella Sticks Signature Melts, or  Everything Bagel Grilled Cheese, or Maple bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. It was announced on the Capital Melts Facebook page that they won't be reopening after the COVID-19 virus restrictions have been lifted.

Owner Robert Haggerty's Facebook post expressed his gratitude to his loyal customers, "I would like to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to all of the loyal customers of Capitol Melts". He also thanked his staff too, "I would also like to thank my staff over the last 6 years who help us provide a unique and delicious dining experience."
