CDC Thanksgiving Guidelines are About as Much fun as a Tofu Turkey
With Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner, I guess it's time to start thinking about how to do these major family gatherings in the COVID world we now live in.
Of course, everyone wants to see family over Thanksgiving, but is it really worth the risk? I mean I love grandma's stuffing, but is it worth killer her over it? Whatcha gonna do next year without grandma and her stuffing?
Governor Cuomo set out his guidelines during a press conference asking people to stay home, have Thanksgiving within their bubble, and practice social distancing. He requested that people not travel, but said it was a suggestion, not a rule. He also said that gatherings should be kept to less than 10 people.
Now, the CDC has given their official recommendations for a safe Thanksgiving. They recommend that you only celebrate Thanksgiving with your immediate family and forgo the trip to grandma's house. Essentially, trying to keep your bubble as small as possible.
If you do decide to gather with people outside your household consider where you are traveling to or they are traveling from. Is it a high infection rate area? Is there any way they can quarantine 14 days before they visit?
If the weather is nice being outdoors helps reduce the risk. The CDC also recommends bringing your own silverware, your own food, and practicing social distancing throughout the visit. Of course, wear a mask at all times except when eating and drinking.
