Concert Preview: Megadeth – “Destroy All Enemies Tour” this week at MVP Arena
Grammy Award winning Heavy Metal Legends Megadeth are bringing their "Destroy All Enemies" tour to Albany's MVP Arena on Tuesday September 10, 2024 at 6:30PM. Dave Mustaine and company will be bringing along fellow metal titans, Mudvayne and All That Remains to open the show. Megadeth is touring in support of their sixteenth studio album 2022's "The Sick, the Dying... and the Dead!" There will be something for fans from all eras of Megadeth's nearly forty year career. During recent dates on the tour, Mustaine has pulled out tracks from ten of the sixteen studio albums. They have even dusted off some deep cuts, playing "Washington is Next" from 2007's United Abominations for the first time since 2009 just the other night.
Mustaine recently battled and defeated throat cancer. This record and tour are a testament to his resilience and strength. The record was recorded while he was receiving chemotherapy treatments. It is chock full of Mustaine's signature brutal and intricate guitar riffs. From start to finish there isn't a bad track. It harkens back to earlier albums like 'Rust in Peace" and "Countdown to Extinction."
Megadeth has always been known for their double guitar attack, led by the inimitable Mustaine. Over the years the band has been home to some of the best shredders in the genre. Finnish virtuoso Teemu Mäntysaari currently holds down the second guitar slot that was once occupied by greats like Marty Friedman and Chris Poland. Videos from this tour show just how incendiary Mäntysaari's playing is. The band is rounded out by the thunderous rhythm section of James Lomenzo on bass and Dirk Verbeuren on drums.
Mudvayne has been hitting the road hard since coming off hiatus in 2022. Chad Grey is one of the most entertaining front-men that you will ever see live. Metalcore veterans All That Remains will open the show. The Springfield, MA natives have been putting music out since 1998. Singer Philip Labonte is the last original member of the band, but he has surrounded himself with incredible players.
