USA Today's 10 Best Reader's Poll ranked the Top 10 Doughnut Shops In the Nation. Of all the doughnut shops in the United States of America, we are fortunate to have one of the best right here in the Capital Region of New York.

USA Today's panel of experts nominated several great doughnut shops around the country and you let them know which doughnut shops are your favorites by casting your votes. Nothing against the large chain doughnut shops but this all about that mom and pop shop in town.

Before the spelling police arrive, let's address the spelling of doughnut. Doughnut is the traditional way to spell it. Donut is a simplified Americanized variation. Considering our local champion spells it 'doughnut', I am sticking with doughnut.

Regarding the 10 Best Doughnut Shops in America, our Capital Region shop not only made the top 10, it made the top 5 at number 5.

Next month Darling Doughnuts will mark their 6th anniversary. Stop in Wednesday through Monday from 8am until 5:30pm, or until they are sold out.
